Easter Congregational Prayer

Our great and merciful God:

What a joyous day it is! Christ is risen and the world is full of new possibilities. Life, hope, and love wins. Death, where is thy sting? The resurrection of Jesus fills our imagination. Broken-heartedness does not get the last word. Life gets the last word. And it is in that tenacious hope that we pray to you this morning.

Risen Christ, hear our prayers for all that need new life. We pray for the poor, the distressed, the hurting, the addicted and recovering, the lonely, the healing, and all of us barely hanging on. Speak new words of life in our hearts aching for new possibilities.

For our families, friends, loved ones, children, hear our prayers of blessing and hopes for the people we love.

For us, guide us and lead us. Spirit of the living Christ fall fresh upon our hearts with a new word life. Energize our bodies and souls with love. Let us live and walk in love for all humankind just as Jesus did.

Together, with our family of faith around the world, we join together in the prayer that Jesus taught us:

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen.
